Phone, Tablet Charges Slowly? Here Is the Solution

Do you have to wait for a long time before your devices are sufficiently charged? Why does the charging speed of your devices gradually become slower as time goes by? You may need following tips to solve this problem.

Charge Your Device at Normal Temperature

The excessively high or low ambient temperature will trigger the temperature protection mechanism of the device, which causes the charging current to decrease and thus slows down the charging speed.

It is recommended to charge your device in ambient temperatures between 0-50℃ to maintain the normal charging speed.

Use a Standard Charger and Data Cable

The devices charge really fast if supporting QuickCharge and SuperCharge. To protect your device, the fast charging will be automatically disabled when you plug in a cable that does not support fast charging. So please use a standard charger and cable to charge your device.

If your charging device is lost or damaged, please enter VMALL.COM to purchase a new one.

*Reminder: You can identify the charging mode of your device based on the information below. The device only supporting standard charging charges less quickly.

Charging Mode / Output Power

Standard charging

5V/1A, 5V/2A

QuickCharge

9V/2A, 10V/2A

SuperCharge

10V/2.25A, 5V/4.5A OR 4.5V/5A, 10V/4A, 5V/8A, 20V/3.25A

Check the USB Ports

If the charger is not in full contact with the USB port, or the USB port is covered with dust or dirt, the charging time will be prolonged. It is recommended to unplug the data cable from the charger and your device, and then plug it in again.

Ensure that there is no dirt on the USB connector of the data cable and the USB port of your device. Otherwise, please use a soft brush to clean them in time.

Try Not to Use Your
Device While Charging

Your device charges slowly when in use? It is because that part of the output current of the charging adapter is consumed by your phone's touchscreen or other hardware. Therefore, the charging current directed to the battery decreases, resulting in a slower charging speed.

It is not recommended to use your phone to watch videos or play games while charging.

Avoid Charging
Your Phone with
Computer or Power Bank

The USB port of a computer only provides a charging current of 500 mA, and the power bank only supports standard charging, so charging your device in such two ways is slower than using a standard charger and cable.

*Reminder: The exact data of charging current may vary with models. Please refer to the actual situation.

Unplug the Cable Timely

When the battery approaches a full charge, the charging current gradually decreases to protect the battery, so the charging speed gradually slows down. In this case, please wait patiently until the device is sufficiently charged and remember to unplug the data cable in time so as to prolong the battery lifespan.

Replace the Aging Battery Timely

As the battery ages with the passage of time, its charging speed will gradually slow down. To diagnose the battery issue, please open Support App, tap Quick services > Service centers, find the nearest HUAWEI Customer Service Center to replace your battery.

Click the arrow to check the next step

If the problem persists, please back up your data, take proof of purchase and go to the HUAWEI Customer Service Center for professional diagnosis.

*Reminder: The instructions above are followed with EMUI 10.1 as an example. It may be slightly different in other versions. Please adjust according to your actual situation.
