Is your SIM card inserted to the tablet correctly?

SIM card fails to fit into the card slot,
or unable to be detected by your tablet?
Come and see how to fix it!

  • SIM card cannot be inserted into card slot

Please ensure that your SIM card fits the card slot. There are three SIM card sizes commonly in use. If yours doesn't fit into the slot, please do not cut the SIM card by yourself or use non-standard cards. Contact your carrier and ask for a replacement. The tablet card slot is designed strictly according to the industry standard. Non-standard SIM cards cannot fit into the slot and may even damage it.
It is recommended that you gently scrape the wavy area with your finger tips to remove any residue on both sides of the tray, then try re-inserting the empty tray. If the problem persists, please back up your data, and bring the device with purchase invoice to HUAWEI Service Centres for maintenance.
  • Insert SIM card into the right card slot

MatePad Pro comes with a single-SIM card tray with an NM card slot on the inner side and a SIM card slot on the outer side. Please insert your cards according to the markers on the card tray frame shown in the image below. Placing cards in the wrong slots may lead to detection problem.
Please use standard nano-SIM cards and NM Cards. Inserting a non-standard card may result in damage to the card tray (slot) or detection problem.
  • Try the SIM card on another device

If the tablet cannot detect your SIM card, please try inserting the card into another device to check if the SIM card is detectable.
  • Verify the validity of your HUAWEI NM card

Please verify if your NM(nano memory) card is a valid HUAWEI NM card, which should have a serial number silk-screen printed on the gold finger side. If there is no serial number, please replace it with a valid HUAWEI NM card. If there is a serial number, please try the NM card on another device that supports NM memory card to confirm if this NM memory card is detectable.

Tips for SIM card management

In daily use, you can choose to enable or disable a SIM card and add labels to them for identification purpose.
  • Enable or disable your SIM card

Go to Settings > Mobile network > SIM management, and enable or disable a SIM card as needed.
Once disabled, the SIM card cannot be used for calling, messaging, or accessing the Internet.
  • Name your SIM card

You can name your SIM cards for easier identification and management. For example, you could mark one SIM card as "Work" and the other "Personal". Go to Settings > Mobile network > SIM management and touch to edit the SIM card name or number.
