If the mobile network signal is not stable or a × icon (the icon, for example) is displayed in the status bar, please follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Metal and magnetic materials can interfere with and even block the network signal. If you are using a metal or magnetic case or a magnetic phone holder (including a magnetic support or suction cup), please remove them and try to connect to the mobile network again.

In some enclosed indoor environments, such as an area with a lot of tall buildings nearby, the phone signal may be blocked, resulting in a poor signal reception. Go outdoors and check whether the phone signal returns to normal.

The carrier network coverage varies depending on the area. All urban areas are generally covered, while some remote areas may not be well-covered, causing poor signal reception.

Perform the following to determine whether the issue is caused by poor network coverage: check if you have unstable network signal only in a specific area, or if users nearby using SIM cards of the same carrier also encounter signal quality issues.

Incorrect APN settings may prevent your smartphone from accessing the Internet.

In this case, swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel, and tap and hold the Mobile data icon to access the mobile network settings screen.

Go to Access Point Names (APNs), touch in the upper right corner and select Reset to default.

Step 1
Step 2

Remove the SIM card from your device and make sure that its metal surface is not stained or oxidized.

Clean the SIM card if necessary and check if the issue was resolved. You can also use another SIM card of the same carrier to test your phone, or insert your SIM card into another device.

If the icon is displayed, it means that there is no network signal.

In this case, please take your device to your carrier's service centre for assistance, and replace your SIM card with a new one.

If the network signal is still unstable, open the Settings on your HUAWEI device, search for Reset network settings and reset the network settings of your SIM card. This will delete all of your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.

Once the reset is completed, connect your device to the mobile network and check the signal strength again.

If none of the above solved the issue, back up your data and take your device and proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.
