A personal hotspot allows you to share the mobile data of your HUAWEI device, when you don't have access to other wireless networks.

When this function is turned on, your smartphone or tablet creates a Wi-Fi hotspot you can connect other devices to, in order to surf the Internet.

If you cannot enable or disable the personal hotspot, either from the notification panel or from the hotspot settings screen, please try the following troubleshooting steps.

If Data saver/ Smart data saver is activated, this prevents the hotspot from being enabled, in order to save mobile data.

In this case, open the Settings, search for Data saver/ Smart data saver and turn off this function. Then try again to activate the personal hotspot.

You cannot enable the personal hotspot from the notification panel icon if the permission to write system settings in System UI has not been granted.

To solve this, open the Settings, search for and access Apps, touch in the upper right corner and tap Show system processes (if Hide system processes is displayed, move on to the next step). On the Apps screen, search for and access System UI, select Write system settings, and turn on the switch.

Step 1
Step 2

If the permission to write system settings in Settings has not been granted, you cannot turn on the personal hotspot from the hotspot settings screen.

In this case, open the Settings and search for and access Apps. On the Apps screen, search for Settings, touch Write system settings, and activate the switch (if this option is not available in the settings, please continue to the next troubleshooting step).

You can also enable and disable the Airplane mode, then restart your device and check if the issue was resolved.

If the issue persists, reset the network settings

Open the Settings on your HUAWEI device, search for Reset network settings and follow the onscreen instructions to perform a reset.

This will delete all of your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. Once the reset is completed, try enabling the personal hotspot again.

If none of the above solved the issue, back up your data and take your device and proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.
